Vape Display Shelf

A vape display shelf system supplied to a Canadian retailer in 2021, built as a cube-grid wall with a white glass counter run in front. The client wanted the shelving to look architectural rather than retail, and accepted a longer lead time to get a bespoke grid instead of standard gondola.

The wall is a matrix of open cubes in two materials — warm wood-veneered decks and black metal partitions — with a black outer frame that holds the whole elevation true. Cube sizes vary deliberately: taller cells for hardware, shallower cells for boxed product, so the wall reads as a composition rather than a rack.

Each cube is backlit through a translucent rear panel, which turns the wall into a light source and removes the need for track lighting on that side of the store. Warm wood plus cool light is the contrast that carries the design.

In front, the counter is a plain white glass case with a satin white carcass, deliberately quiet so the wall stays the hero. Glass shelves step in three tiers and the plinth hides the cable route.

The build ran as a bespoke job: shop drawings, a sample cube signed off, production in thirty to forty-five days, and shipment from Guangzhou in flat pack with an assembly matrix drawing. Spare backlit panels were included for the tallest cells, which are the ones most likely to be damaged in service.
