Backlit Counter

A backlit counter program delivered in China in 2017, for a mall jewelry store selling gold and coloured-stone lines. The brief called for an open-front shop — no doors, readable from the corridor — with champagne gold fluted panels, coral backlit columns holding necklace busts, and arched niches closing the back wall. Roughly one hundred to one hundred and forty square metres, fitted whole-store from our Guangzhou workshop as a backlit-column champagne program.

The plan runs glass-top counters in parallel rows through the room, with the coral columns set at the entry line as beacons visible from the corridor. Behind them, three arched illuminated niches hold pedestal displays for one-off pieces; the back wall carries a wide lit panel between them. Champagne gold fluting runs above the storefront header, and cream chairs sit at the counter ends for tray service.

Merchandising splits by light. The backlit columns carry gold chains and coloured-stone necklaces on busts, dense against the coral glow; the parallel counters take watches and bangles in white-lined trays under clear glass. Each led glass display cabinet locks with front-access keys, and the arched niches hold the value pieces opened by staff for viewing.

Materials hold the champagne-and-coral scheme throughout: brushed gold metal on frames and fluted panels, white leatherette case liners, light marble at the entry shifting to darker veined stone in the display zone. Lighting runs in three layers — cove light at the ceiling, spots on the counters, and the coral backlight inside the columns — so every led counter display reads brighter than the room around it.

Delivery followed the factory route in 2017: fluted panels pressed and plated, columns framed and wired, glass bedded and locks fitted before packing. The store fitted out in a single visit, with mall contractors closing floor and ceiling works. Sample in seven to ten days, production in thirty to forty-five, shipped assembled from Guangzhou.
