Jade Showcase

A jade showcase program delivered in China in 2022: one gallery-style store of roughly one hundred to one hundred thirty square metres, dressed in emerald, vermilion and black stone, and built for buyers of jade, gold and collectible pieces rather than daily-wear fashion. The client wanted a room that read as a private gallery — and the whole set, from the counters to the lattice screens, shipped from our Guangzhou workshop.

The plan runs three bays deep. A central island carries the main display, its oxidized copper-green tops under glass hoods with champagne metal frames. Wall runs flank it on both sides, and the backwall closes the room with full-height glass cabinets for large pieces, flanked by red lacquer lattice cupboards. A gilded screen partitions the sitting corner without walling it off, and round cut-outs in the casework hold celadon vases, one to each opening.

Merchandising follows the gallery idea. Each gallery display case carries few pieces: bangles and pendants sit singly on ivory liners, one per position, so buyers read each stone on its own. Rings and small gold sit in the wall runs on fluted trays, and one-off carvings take the backwall cabinets under closer light, where staff open the doors to serve.

Materials hold the three-colour scheme through the set: oxidized copper-green metal on island tops and door fronts, champagne-gold frames and roundels, black stone floors and decks, ivory liners, low-iron glass. Every oriental display cabinet in the store repeats the same round corner fittings, so the Chinese-style casework reads as one family. Red lacquer appears once, on the backwall cupboards and the ceiling beams, so it reads as an accent rather than a theme. Case lighting runs at 4000K against a 3000K room.

Delivery followed the factory route: copper tops oxidized and sealed in the workshop, brass locks and slides fitted to every drawer, glass bedded and lighting burned in before packing. The store installed in a single fit-out in 2022. Sample in seven to ten days, production in thirty to forty-five, shipped KD or fully assembled from Guangzhou.
